I just looked up a relly called thomas kiff, he was born 31 jan 1808 in st albans herts and died 6 march 1843 in tasmania, anyone have any idea how i can find out more such as what he was doing there please?

He wouldn't have been a convict would he?? Not meaning to be rude, but they were transported for anything. There are some sites that have the convict lists, but I'm sorry, I am looking after my young neices tonight and I'm exhausted. Be happy to look around for you tomorrow. I'm in Oz so it's getting onto my bedtime,as the girls are sleeping in same room as computer. I'll check back in the morning.

He WAS a convict. There's a whole website about him... http://www.kiff.net/kiff_1name/newsletters_2x/nl22/k1news22.htm ''7th April, 1842 Today two brothers today appeared before the Liberty of St Albans Easter Session and both were sentenced to be transported to Australia for 10 years. Thomas Kiff (33), of St Albans, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing three halfcrowns, a shilling and a sixpence from David Smith on 2 April at the Vine Public House in St Albans.'' wow harsh, 10 years in oz for stealing a little money and the brother got 10 years in oz for stealing a chicken lol.... thank you for that link its the best info ive had so far even a physical description of them!!!
