Hiya all My husband's gtx3 granddad was a Chelsea Pensioner I found his army discharge on TNA. If I paid for them to send me a copy would it have more information on than is on the screen. Sorry if this sounds a bit thick but have not sent for anything off here before. Have a great weekend. regards Margaret x

I sent for my gt X 3 grandfather's pension records. I got details of his recruitment and army service as well as medical information. Worth it just to see old documents. It gave his date of birth and a physical description too. nell

Thanks a lot Nell. I will send for it because like you said it should be an interesting document. I was rather hoping it would give me more personal details becuase I cannot find his birth family at all. Still it will be nice to get an idea of what he looked like. Cheers Margaret x

TNA is The National Archives. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/researchguidesindex.asp It is a very good site although I must be honest I do not know how to use it properly yet. Good luck Margaret

Select which time period you want then just type your ancestors name in the search box. That worked for me. Margaret

Hi Dea Yes but my problem is that leslie did not die at war but died by accident when painting the ship at rest so he is not a war death or on the bdm records, john

His discharge papers will give oodles of info. including his father's name, his dob. place of birth. etc. marriage if took place in service, children born in service, etc, etc. Wendy
