I can remember foolishly thinking when I joined GR that everyone had instant access somehow to parish records and I was just being dopey in not being able to find the ones I wanted! I was also convinced that at least SOME people on this site would have to be related to me. Well, I have found some connections, but they are all related way back in the past to distant ancestors. But I learn new things every time I come on the site. Although the internet is amazing, I think some newbies are under the impression that you just mention a name and hey presto, a full pedigree will appear just like that! nell |

Angie a) Yes, the internet is amazing. I've sat here open mouthed at the screen sometimes when I've found a site that mentions a relative or has a photo of an ancestral home, etc. b) things are only simple, easy or obvious when you know them. As the saying goes, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask! Good luck with your research. nell |

I cant believe how amazing the internet is, I have made some fantastic friends since coming on the internet (my longest are 2 friends I started chatting to 9 years ago seems a lifetime away) Being able to research my family history when I had virtually nothing to go on is simply amazing too, ive had help off some wonderfull people on here & friends reunited (i posted everywhere in the hope a aunt or uncle or cousin would see my post lol) I have now put some more of my jigsaw in the puzzle with regards to my 'real' Grand dad. Nanna is still being a little ellusive to me lol (mm thats where I get it from ;) ) but im hoping for a messae today that may hold another bit of my jigsaw had a reply this morning and was amazed. Thank you all so very much your all complete stars xxxx and id be in a right confused muddle if it wasn't for everyone being so kind as to explain (simple to most people) questions I have had with regards to certificates index's etc Love Angie xxxx |
