Can anyone explain please why I keep getting hot matches which say there are 4, 3, 2 matches but when I open there is only 1. Is this a common problem or is it just me? |

Yes - I get this all the time. I have long since stopped trying to credit Hot Matches with any form of logic, but I suppose this happens when someone withdraws those names? But I wouldnt lose any sleep over it, if I were you! Olde Crone |

I get this too..... and I've wondered what the others were and was I missing a wonderful link. Now I don't get excited by any new matches but prefer to find my own. Gwyn |

I THINK (but I may be wrong!) that it happens when somone reloads their tree. ie GR counts the name as a hotmatch each time as it reallocates a new, unique number to the name. On the other hand, does this explain why my list of hot matches is actually getting progressively shorter, as I've presumed that that is because some people have removed themselves from the site altogether. |

Thanks Olde Crone and Gwyn at least now I know it's a common problem and not just me... I must admit I hardly ever bother to look anymore as they seem to be a waste of time. thanks again. |

No Idea, All I know is all the hot matches seem to be on my brother in laws side of the tree. BTW Jo, My mother was a Nutt, nice to see there's other people out there with such a nutty name ;) |

Doesn't look like it, Mine originated in Ireland, Moved into Scotland, ayrshire (lots still there) the ones in my line moved down from scotland and ended up in Sussex. Course there's always a chance it ties in somewhere along the line, lots of brothers and sisters at each generation and i've not traced down from any of them. Helen |

Lunar : guess that proves how hopeless the hot match system is! Helen : my Nutt's seem to originate in the West Country so probably no connection within the last couple of hundred years - but before that....who knows???? Thanks everyone for your help. |
