I doubt very much if Suzanne is checking for replies now or even a member as this thread is 5 years old.

You could try and send a private message by clicking on her name, if her email address is the same she will recieve it

have you tried O'Donovan or Donavan/Donoven? I am also tracing Donovan's from Ireland & Glamorgan & have tried variants on the spelling of the name.

Thanks Julie :o) Although some of the names are similar, I can't see James or Johanna there...

Yes, that's them in '91 - he was an Inn/Hotel Keeper. She later took over his role when he died in 1899. In 1891 they lived on Tyndall Street, by 1899 they were living at Bridge Street.

It looks a bit clearer this way: Hi, how do you do? I wonder if any of you may have any suggestions? I'm looking for my rellies on the 1881 census, but with no avail, as yet! I can find them in 1891 and 1901...but where are they in between their marriage and 1891? James DONOVAN married Johanna DRISCOLL in 1875 - he was from North William Street, Cardiff, she was from Love Lane, Cardiff. Both James and Johanna were born in Ireland. James' father was Timothy Donovan and Johanna's was Patrick Driscoll (he later lived with her in 1891 census). Wedding witnesses were Patrick Driscoll and Honora (looks like Honoria Donovan). By 1881 James & Johanna had three children all born in Cardiff - Mary A (b 1875), John (1877) and Patrick (1880) - my Great Grandfather. I've tried using Don* and even Bonovan (I've found Driscolls as Briscolls) - but still no luck! Any ideas on what to do next? Many thanks, Suzanne
