Free census on ancestry is this right

The 1881 census has always been free - well the index at least - you shouldn't be able to see the images. Sam x

yes 1881 is free to look at also on familysearch Jeanette

It's right. It's because the 1881 census is free on www.familysearch.org anyway. If you scroll down to the bottom of the screen on Ancestry's 1881 census you will see that it says '1881 British Isles Census Index provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints © Copyright 1999 Intellectual Reserve, Inc. All rights reserved. All use is subject to the limited use license and other terms and conditions applicable to this site. Appreciation is expressed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for providing the 1881 England and Wales Census Index.'

Hi i'm wondering if this is correct. For some reason when i lok on the 1881 census i can view everything even though i am not a full member on there!! Could this be right or is there a problem with it? Thanks Jennie
