On the 1901 census James was an Ironstone labourer, so the word on the certificate could be foundry. Kath. x

I don't have a scanner unfortunatly- but think i need to get one!! He was born in Dec 1872 Name of James Watson in Kirton Skeldyke Lincolnshire.

Was he born in time to be on any census, where his occupation can be checked? Kath. x

could it be foundry? I have foundry labourers in my tree. Or Farmers rather than farm? Sam x

the word is a bit longer than that. about 6/7 letters. It's so annoying! But thanks

Hi Just got my great grandmothers birth cert and on the fathers occupation i cannot quite make out the job. I'm pretty sure the second work is labourer. What type of labourers were there. It could begin with an 'f' Why couldn't they write clearly on these things!!!!! Thank you Jess
