I sent off to Wrexham registrars for my grandmother's birth certificate from *their* website using *their* form. Yesterday I received back from them my cheque with a compliment slip saying 'Emily Owens did not marry Thomas Owens (even though they were on the same page of the marriage register. Cheque therefore returned' .. fine .. BUT I kept a copy of the form I filled in and it quite clearly says at the top 'Birth Certificate' .. in box 3 Details of 'Birth Certificate Required'. Am I being stupid or are they .. and should I go elsewhere?

Ali if you have a credit or debit card I would order online from the main GRO, it might take a few days longer. http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ Georgina.

Personally, I would telephone Wrexham and explain what has happened - That way they should deal with it promptly and let you re-send the cheque or pay by card over the 'phone. If you follow the GRO route, It will take 'forever' ! Dea x

Thanks for that! I've ordered it on-line from the GRO (work too busy for me to make the call, but not for a sneaky order on the internet!) .. and then I decided to go the whole hog and blew another £7.00 on my grandfather's certificate too! Hey ho .. I'll be in the poorhouse before I've finished this! Ali
