I have Myles Kirkby Ariel born 1821 marries Emily Mary Ann Weaver 1848. They have two children in Bristol then in 1853 come to Australia. A third child, Richard is born on voyage. Myles has a couple of houses in Sydney. On Richard’s birth cert Myles is “gentlemen”. I have various shipping lists that show the family travelling in Australia. Money was no object. Then in 1863 Myles’ wife Emily remarries in Sydney. I have looked everywhere for a death for Myles. Family story has it that he just “went missing”. I’ve searched newspapers for any reports. Can’t find anything. Surely if he went missing, particularly being wealthy, there would be something. Any ideas??? |

It could be that the family didn't want the publicity and if they were wealthy they could have prevented it. My ggrandfather was murdered but there is no info in the papers. My mum thinks that the family asked for it to be kept quiet. At that time the family was influential. You have you tried looking for variations on the spelling of Myles' surname, the death could have been recorded incorrectly. On the NSW BDM you can search using only first name and parents names if you know what his parents were called. Good luck Toni |

Elizabeth, Have sent you another email this morning and hope the attachments arrive this time. It shows 7 children born to Myles and Elizabeth Ariel in Bristol - not sure if this is the same Myles as you are talking about. Let me know if you get it. Elaine |

Toni, I've tried that. Personally I think he just left. I keep getting a 'feeling' I'm missing something happening with that family just before he came out here. Elaine, I've sent you a meaasge. I'm still not getting the attachments. It looks like there are attachments, but nothing there. Where they are normally there is just a blue line. That will be the family. I only have 6 children so that's another one. I have two of the children's marraiges. Elizabeth and Myles. Mary didn't marry. I've lost David Kirkby Ariel and jane Eyre Ariel. Thanks. |
