In eight weeks i have saved over 250 census images for different branches in my tree,and countless lookups for members here. Add in the extra bells and whistles via ancestry (which grow month by month) and it really is difficult to beat. Glen

Sounds like it might be a good idea to gather a list of everything I need and test the waters with the trial then.

You can generally get a two week free trial with full access. ancestry only bill at the end of the trial period if you haven't cancelled. I did a lot in a couple of trial periods and then realised that the full year was the way to go! kevin

If you are serious about your tree, then it is definately worth the money for the yearly subs.

Well it looks like it's a winner across the board. Shame about the exchange rate right now it'll be about $120 but it'll be worth it right? Guess I better run off to Ebay and sell some of my better stuff that I've been saving! Ta Helen

You can take out an annual or quarterly subscription to Ancestry, which will give you access to the 1841,51,61,71,81,91 and 1901 censuses for England and Wales, plus 1841 Scotland, all GRO bmd indexes (and many searchable over several years at one time) plus Pallot's marriage and baptism indexes and various other bits and bobs. I don't know any other site that has the range of censuses or unlimited access. nell

I use ancestry, have done for 3 years now, its the best for BMD, 1841, 51, 61, 71, 81, 91, 1901 census plus other extras. Probably the cheapest as well. website is www(.)ancestry(.)co(.)uk and yearly subs are £69.95 which are great if you consider what you have probably already spent. (remove brackets for site)

I see all these different options like pay per view and pay for x# of searches but it expires in a week etc etc Is there a way I can just pay a yearly subs to access all the census' as many times as i want? Helen
