Royal Marines WW1

Thanks everyone. Yes , he was Royal Marine Light Infantry, Chatham Division from 1894 until after WW1 I'll follow up the websites.....so easy to get army medal cards but....!Joan

The Royal Marines have separate records at Kew. If it is WW1 you probably mean the Royal Marine Light Infantry. Whatever -You need to know which division he was with - Chatham, Portsmouth, Plymouth or Woolwich. You should then be able to access his record in ADM series on microfiche at Kew. I've never seen any WW1 medal cards for them just their complete records.Mine went out to Gallipoli as did most of them and then shipped back to France and amalgamated into the army as - I think RND/ 63 division. It was all the brainwave of Winston Churchill. Jan

The Royal Marine's I don't think where not known by that name untill about the 1920's if you go to this site it will give you more info http://www.regiments.org/regiments/uk/specfor/RM.htm Roy

Has anyone successfully found the medal card for a Royal Marine for WW1, please.....if so...how?....where? Thanks Joan
