You need to look under Boldre or Brockenhurst, but it will almost certainly come under Brockenhurst, it does not show up as a Parish in its own right. Jennifer |

ed is this of any use Setley refce: Coates 1989 SETLEY, hamlet in the PARISH of BROCKENHURST in the COUNTY of HAMPSHIRE Occurs as 'Setle' in 1331. Appears to mean 'planted wood', though this would have needed enclosing against roaming animals and enclosure of the royal forest for any purpose was illegal till 1483. (That does not mean it never happened.) Possibly therefore includes 'sett'='stunted', as Gover suggests for 'Set Thorns Inclosure' (Rhinefield); though the chances of that including 'set'='planted' are significantly higher in view of the date of the first record 1595. The 1483 Act provided for coppicewood to be surrounded with a thorn hedge until it had matured. |

Come on Ed......I've told you this before!! It's about 1-2 miles south of Brockenhurst (north of Boldre and Lymington). These days it's on the A337. Merry |
