Off topic but I have been looking at Ariel christenings on the IGI. St. James is Bristol's oldest church and is near bristol bus station. St. Phillip and St. Jacob (now known as Pip and Jay) is also in the middle of Bristol both would be near Brunswick square.

I found these in Hereford but to be honest I had a look at the image and am not sure it is Ariel. Richard from Devon looks more like Arwill. You could look for Ariels born that early on www.familysearch.org The earliest proper census was 1841 and the only Ariel on it in Wales is: Myles Ariel abt 1821 Christchurch Monmouthshire he appears to be lodging with a family called Tarr and the occupation column says 'Indep'. This generally means living on an independent income (ie not having to work for a living) but I've found quite a few relatives on 1841 who definitely weren't in that income bracket labelled as independent, including a few-months old baby! nell

Thanks, My Ariels are, so far, all from Bristol. I found these Welsh ones while I was looking at BMD indexes. I thought if I could research them maybe they'd join somewhere. My earliest Ariels are in Bristol in 1745.

I've found a group of Ariel families in Wales. Don't know if they are related to my Bristol lot, but thought I'd try to find out. I've googled, and gone to genuki, does anyone have any tips for searching Wales. It seems they were in Pontypridd. I've checked the threads here. Thanks.
