thank you both for your replies I did ring PC World and ask about the memory and gave them the details I got with the PC saying the model type and everything and they checked and told me the number to get, but when I got to PC World and showed them this they said I was told wrong one and gave me a different one, it seemed to fit okay and clicked as you say , if it was the wrong one what problems will it give me thanks !!!!

As an add on to the porevious message, the memory stick should make a distinct loud clicking noise when it's inserted into the slot and pressed home, this noise is made by the 2 locking clips one each end of the slot clicking home. Try removing it and replacing it again, if that don't cure it refer to previous message about wrong type of memory. Ron www.genealogyprinters*com

Hi Val, Sorry I am butting in. You haven't had a relpy so I asked my husband (works in IT) what he thought. He said although hard to tell from the limited info you have given, that it is probably the new memory causing the problems and that, either you have got the wrong memory or faulty memory, or you have installed it incorrectly. Make sure you have the memory in the correct slot, starting from the lowest number (actual numbers vary with different motherboards, but eg if you have 1 2 3 and 4 make sure you use 1 then 2 then 3 etc). If it looks like it is installed correctly and it is still not working then you will need to remove it and check your pc is working, if it is, then you will need to replace the memory which is either faulty or the incorrect type. Hope that helps! Best wishes
