Yvonne, the Warner family appear to have inhabited the North Petherton area from 1550s and it was not until Robert Moved to portsmouth thatw e have th hampshire connection. But I will keep that one in mind, stranger things have happened. Maybe she had rellies there. christine, it was the main free BMD site that i was checking. Ann Glos

Don't forget, if you're using the Ancestry FreeBMD database, it's a copy - so not always as up-to-date as the main FreeBMD site. Christine

It was from the free BMD on http://freebmd.rootsweb(.)com/cgi/search.pl - not Ancestry

Have you actually checked the original parish registers, because I know that several parishes on the IGI only have female christenings listed.

It's possible that - for whatever reason - Charles was baptised elsewhere. Have you checked neighbouring parishes? As for missing marriages, I have one of my own. I can only assume that the couple in question didn't marry in either of the most likely parishes and that the marriage cert copy never got to the GRO. [or, whisper it quietly, maybe my gt grandma Emma chose to live in sin, shock horror]

Is anyone able to offer me help with this brick wall that has been driving me crazy for several years please? Today I have been very fortunate and had a hot match link which takes one branch of my family back to the 16th century. But, now one brick wall has been demolished (My Gt gt Grandfather’s Grandfather, who was revealed in the hot match), I still have another. I have looked and looked for my Gt grandfather’s birth and marriage but they are nowhere to be seen. Please has anyone any suggestions that I can follow. Gt Gt grandfather was Robert Warner born 1819 Durston Somerset, he married Mary Ann Blackmore at Durston parish Church on 9 Nov 1840 she was 18, he was 21. My Gt Grandfather appears on the 1851 census for Lyng Somerset aged 9 ( so born C1842) all subsequent censuses agree the age, born Durston Somerset. On the IGI I can find the Christening of his younger sister Mary Jane Warner in 1828 at N Petherton. But nothing for Charles. In the 1861 census Charles is living with his parents aged 19 at Outwood Lyng. I have not found Elizabeth Lowman charle's wife in the 1861. Between 1861 and 1871 Robert Warner (1819) with wife Mary Ann and youngest daughter Emily Ann (aged 13 in 1871) moved to Portsea Hampshire. Also by 1871 Charles Warner (C1842) is living in Portsea with his wife Elizabeth (nee Lowman – name taken from daughter’s birth cert) age 30 born Creech Somerset and their children the oldest of whom is Bessie age 5. born Creech and the next, Henry born Portsea Hampshire. (So they moved to Hampshire between 1866 and 1868). So, if I know all this why can’t I find either a birth or marriage for Charles? Please help with suggestions Ann Glos
