Cropredy is gorgeous! I lived in Banbury for 7 yrs, so know some of the villages. Newbottle and Farthinghoe are on my list of places to visit...husband willing, lol. Although Im researching about 10 lines, Im totally fascinated with the Charlton and Newbottle lot. Anyway, have emailed the editor of a paper called the Charlton and Newbottle Times (I THINK its called that! Or something similar; Ive got a memory like a sieve.), he's printing my letter about the Markhams (husbands ancestors) in the paper. He knew Brian, used to play billiards with him.

Hi Me again, there is a local historian called Brian Little who knows alot about this area, if you go to the library or a bookshop in the town, then you can find books on the area there. I don't know how local you are but I can always have a look for you Bev

Hi Rebecca, I picked up this thread as I know this area really well. I grew up in this area, Newbottle woods are lovely. I grew up in a village called Cropredy, I've just bought a house in town there and rent it out Bev

Thanks all! Ive emailed Deborah. The difference in prices is amazing, shows it pays to shop around. No Im not that local; my husbands ancestors are from Charlton/Newbottle but we're in Coventry. Not too far tho!

So email deborah hayter using the hotmail address I gave in my first reply. I have requests like this all the time from people who want to buy a similar book for one of my parishes but can't get to the local shop.

Did a google - quite a few hits. It was published by the local history society and contact is someone called deborahhayter. Use that contact name exactly as I have written it and add h o t m a i l (.) c o m at the end Also look on the village's website http://www.charlton-cum-newbottle(.)co(.)uk Remove the ( ) It's also offered for sale on biblio - have a look at http://www.biblio(.)com/books/62354671.html Perhaps emailing deborah will be your best bet.

Does anyone know where I can buy/beg/borrow a copy of this book? My husbands ancestor, William Markham, has his photo in the book, and Ive been researching the Markhams for two yrs now. Looked on ebay, but no luck.
