Which parish and whats an independant meeting hous

Can someone help me? Where would the parish records for St Helens Independant meeting House, Colchester be kept and similarly for the Independant in Booking Essex? What i really mean is what parish would it be in? Also what is an independant meeting house? is is methodist etc? thanks keiley |

Independent means non-conformist, so could be Methodist, or that ilk. As to where they would be, they might be in the county records office or at The National Archives or elsewhere. Try googling. nell |

Thanks Helen. Just I was hoping to go to the Essex record office tomorrow, so I was sorting out parishes now, as I dont have much time there and I thought it might save me some. I have been on essex's record office site and i cant find st helens on there. Thanks Helen, never saw the Stockwell Chapel Independent bit, will look for that as well. |
