Hello, Please can someone help me. Am new to FTM and cant figure something out. I want to be able to set the relationships so that you can see who everyone is in relation to the source person (ie me) - eg, uncle, cousin, g aunt etc etc etc. |

I don't think you can do that, you have to go into tools...relationship calculator and then choose two people to find out the relationship. Sam x |

How annoying!! Its not so bad when the tree is fairly small, but as it grows, its easy to forget who is related by marriage and who is a blood relative - I dont want to be following lines un-necessarily. That answers my question about whether or not I am going to my the program after my free trial is up!! |

you can for parents, grandparents, Ggrandparents, GGgrandparents, etc.... You need to highlight yourself and then call up an ancestor tree (I use the vertical one). Then right click the mouse then select options - tick the lable row box. OR you can do a kinship report, which gives you the below in alphabetical order (these are from my tree) Name Relationship with Lunar Civil Canon Foster, Amye Wife of the 5th cousin 8 times removed Saunders, Harry Half great-granduncle V 4 Sivyer, Ann Wife of the 4th cousin 9 times removed Tournay, william 4th cousin 9 times removed XIX 14 Tournay, William 3rd great-grandfather V 5 Tournay, William Edward 1st cousin 3 times removed VII 5 Unkown, Male Husband of the grandaunt Walters, Ida Lucy Great-grandmother III 3 |

Thanks for this, but still not what I want, sorry. What I am looking for is when you are in the family view, that there is a label of some kind on the persons record as to what relationship they are to the source. Other programs I have used all seem to have this feature, which I why I am surprised (and still hunting for). |

There is the option of a kinship report, based on one primary person, but it will only show as a report style, and not available in the family view. Family reports for parents and children will show relationship (natural,stepchild/parent or adopted etc). These are the only way that i know, have you tried the online help centre? Glen |
