Whre he's buried would depend on who made the arrangements and how much money they had to spend. If it was family and there was a family plot, he might be taken back. My great-grandfather was transported from North London to East Norfolk in 1917 to be buried. But he might have just been put in a handy pauper's grave. nell

Sticky I dont think there is a hard and fast rule. If the family were poor, then the cost of transporting the body home might have been too much for them. Often, if this were the cae, then they would add his nanme to the family grave back home, in memory of. OC

I have a relative born 1858 and died 1891, he was born in wormley, herts and died at the royal brompton hospital in london. Now as I find rellies, I visit and tend the grave and put some flowers there for them, but I have idea where he would be buried. Does anyone know the common thing to do it these cases, would his family have bought his body home or left it to be buried somewhere in london? Thanks
