Thanks Jacquie - was trying to deceive myself in hopes of finding some missing relatives lol

David, It sounds to me more likely that the Shoreditch Charles Street is the correct one, because they would have to be living in the parish in which they were married - Shoreditch. Regards, Jacquie

You're probably right Gwynne:) It doesn't actually say of the parish on the marriage cert but it would say if it was into another district wouldn't it. Heyho.

In which case I'd say probably not - or they wouldn't have been 'of this parish' if that's what the cert says. Gwynne

If it was in the same parish, then yes. Gwynne

When my great x 2 grandparents married in St James Shoreditch in 1861 they gave their addresses as two differently numbered houses in Charles Street - I'd just assumed this was the Charles Street in Shoreditch (as you would) but looking for another address on an old map have just found a Charles Street in Saffron Hill very near to where they were living at the time of the 1861 and to where their families were in 1851 & 1861. Is it more sensible to think that they were living in the Saffron Hill Charles Street even though this wasn't specified?
