Inquest help please

I applied to Bristol Archives for an Inquest that took place in 1887 but they said that all their inquests were destroyed in the war. Is there any other way of getting this information? Would it be held anywhere else? |

Inquests were usually reported in the local paper, so see if they have any newspapers from the period you want. Andrew. |

Thank you Andrew. I have a copy of an article from The Times that tells you about the accident but not a copy of the local paper. I will have to pay them to search for the local article so just wondered about the inquest in the meantime. |

The death certificate should have the date of the inquest on it and it shouldn't take too long for whoever is looking to find the report of the inquest. nell |

I had a rellie who had an accident and died in 1880. There was an inquest which was reported in the local newspaper. I e-mailed all the info to the Archives department(dates,names etc). They told me it would cost £15 pounds an hour, up to 2 hours per search. After they recieved my e-mail they found the info almost immediatley. The costs was £2.50p. 2 pages from the newspaper of the day and it made intresting reading. Contact the local Archives center and see what they have to say. Vanessa |
