My uncle married a German woman in 1953. On the marriage record on Ancestry, it has the letters J.F.L.H.M. after her name. Does anyone know what this means? Thanks. Bev x

Looby Loo - good point, lol!!!! Suzanne It looks like this: LUDWIG, Ursula J.F.L.H.M. It did cross my mind that they might be initials of her middle names, but surely no-one has that many middle names!!!!! Or do they ........................?? Bev x

Usually you have the index shows up as: Surname, first name, 1st middle name, initials of other middle names. Spouce's surname. District, volume, page. so J.F.L.H.M. would be her initials. Foe example is she was called Zoe Ann Schmitt, then the index would say SCHMITT, Zoe Ann J.F.L.H.M. [your uncles surname] then the usual bits after. The only way you'll find out what J.F.L.H.M. are is to order the certificate or find out if the original is available for you to look at.

Looking at the image they are definatly her initials. Could be she was the only girl in a long line of boys and everyone whated her to be named after them so her parents tried to please everyone by giving her so many names - bet she never used them all!! My nan had the trouble - her grandmother said no-ones named after me so greatnan added an extra name to keep the peace (nan is K.B.M or K.M.B - she can never remember which)
