it really does look like a V, but the date fits it was 1887. Never heard of them before myself! These 'units were houses? in these districts. k |

It's just a level of local council: Urban Sanitary Districts existed nationally from 1875 to 1894. Their purpose was to maintain and improve public health services in urban areas, although they had more powers than Rural Sanitary Districts due to bigger problems. a birth certificate arrived today with a residence when born as 'Rawfolds, Liversedge, V.S.D.' Liversedge is the town where she was born but what does the rest mean. Anyone know?. Cheers k |
