Thanks for the advice, I'd been wondering if you could do this or not and I don't have broadband! This will make life much easier. Lynn : - )

If you use Mozilla Firefox as your browser you can open several internet sites as tabs in the same window. Even better....! It works a bit like the tabs on the message boards and is easier than having several windows open at once. Internet Explorer users will have to wait until the next release before they can use this feature.

Thanks Susan, will try that too.

Glad to help Pam - and 'thanks Jools' - my methods are always a bit 'long winded' as I am not very computer literate BUT I always get there in the end. (I am an 'oldie' - self-taught by trial and error don't you know !) I will try your method and hopefully save even more time. Dea x

HI Pam The way I do it is to click on File on the top left of the tool bar, select New, then Window. A new page will open up with the web site you have just been using and then you can change it to what ever you want. You can open more like this if you want. Hope this helps. Susan.

Thanks Dea and Jools too for your replies - will try all your methods for moving around faster. All my frustrations should disappear overnight (I think). I now understand why all the lovely people who help others on this site are able to access Ancestry census stuff so quickly. You've all made my day (well, night). Pam

Yippee - it works. Now why didn't I think of that?! Thank you so much, life will be so much easier now. Pam

Quicker way still. Open your internet explorer then either do file, new, window OR press control and n

Pam - just MINIMISE !! Top right hand corner - 3 squares - one with a minus sign, one with 2 squares - one on top of the other, and one with a 'x' click on the one with 2 squares - this will keep the site open but minimise it to the bottom bar. While this is still there - open up your browser again and go to next website - once open, do the same to this site. You can then go from one to the other by minimising one, then clicking on the other on the bottom bar to 'maximise' I hope that is clear - have a practice and see what happens. Dea x

Thanks both - will have a go now. Pam

Once you've opened one window, you can click on Start (bottom left) and then choose 'Internet' which should open another window with your homepage on it. You can then flick between the two by clicking on the relevant bit on the blue bar at the bottom of the screen. nell

Hi Pam, Open this site, then if you want to open another window, don't open it with your shorcut, go back to internet explorer or netscape or any other browser you have and put the new site in.......does that make sense.

Hi All I've just read the thread welcoming back Old Crone with her whizzy new machine. Janet mentioned 'being able to have lots of sites open at the same time, ducking and diving from one to the other, in hot pursuit of those elusive rellies'. Can someone tell me how to do this please? I have broadband (although not high speed) and Windows XP Professional. Yours in hope, Pam
