Thanks guys, I never noticed the age thing and yes they are young arent they but theyre all together as a family on census up to 1901. So I am thinking if they were that young and had a child in 1855 maybe they didnt marry until later? Not sure, think ill need the birth cert of one of the children and the marriage cert if i can find it Thanks again

Do you think that the daughter Elizabeth could be Jane's daughter, possibly an illigitimate one?

If she was still single in 1851 you could check all Janes born 1838 Wormley. nell

the GRO are speeding up, and if you look at Debbie N's thread you can see that they are speeding up, nd if you call them (costs £1.50 extra) they seem to have a very quick turn around. Are you sure that you have the right family because they both seem very young to be having children - (15/16/17), it could be if there is a gap between the eldest and the second eldest that they are actually adopted children, I have this in one of mine where the Mother is only 12 years older that the daughter, but it does say that she is adopted.

I am looking up Thomas Varney born 1840, wormley herts. I have tracked him through all census. He was married to jane, from wormley/hoddesdon she was born abt 1838. They had 9 children born 1855 to 1881 (she seemed old to be still having kids but apparently she was) The problem is that I cannot find the marriage to get her surname is there another way i can find it without waiting weeks for certs? Thanks
