Legal adoption did not exist until 1927. Prior to this it was informal arrangement between relatves or neighbours, sometimes arranged by the doctor or the Poor Law Union. I read somewhere that some (only a few) records exist relating to the placement of orphans by the Poor Law Unon, but I can't for the life of me remember where. Try googling? Lz |

Stephen. There are no formal adoptions before 1927 so I think your chances would be pretty slim. If you put the word adoption in the search panel and then search you may get more help and information. Sheila |
