Tiger Lily I sometimes have my PAF file open too, so I can jump between 3 screens. the wonders of modern technology! nell

Gosh! What a revelation! I never knew I could have two open! I am going to play with that and work on my cut and pasting. Impressed with the typing speeds and all the good advice as usual. TGx

I have all my search pages on my favorites list so can quickly access the part of the site thats needed (e.g. 1881 census or ancestry births) etc. Suzanne

Fast Broadband, and more than one site open in different windows. A lot of answers from census pages on Ancestry are just copied and pasted. SNAP NELL - Would you believe I used to be able to type at 75 words per minute, but on a computer keyboard I'm back to two or three fingers. My typing teacher would be horified. Kath. x

If you mean searching and then replying to a thread, I have two explorer windows open. One for here and one for where I am looking. Not as quick as some people but it means you do not have to get back on this site from the other just minimise the window you are not using. Hope that makes sense!!!! Pmaid

Work with more than one browser open. One for GR & one for Ancestry and then alter to fit side by side on screen - that way you can look at two things at once. Maureen

I don't come out of Tips, when I do some looking up - I open a new window. That way I can refer back to the original message for info, as well. It also makes it possible to copy & paste directly from one to the other. Christine

Broadband, then things like ancestry and freebmd minimised so I can flit between them. But then I'm not that fast or experienced so mostly I just read!! But Merry, Old Crone, Jess etc. are in their own league. They're the real whizz kids at this.

Tiger Lily Speaking for myself I usually have 2 windows open, one on GR and one for searching, so it might be on Ancestry or familysearch or google. I usually cut and paste, but I am a quick typist [used to be able to do 75 wpm]. nell

If you mean putting a Reply in quickly when you set up a thread... Prepare the Reply before you post the Header-message, either by putting it in the Header, but cutting & pasting it into a Reply, or by creating a temporary Word (e.g.) document and copying & pasting from that. Christine

I know that there are some very clever and experienced people on this board (many of whom have given me lots of help). But how do you do it physically? How do you read the message - come out of Tips - look it up and come back with a reply(sometimes a very long and complicated one) in record time?? Do you have two computers?? Supernatural powers?? Please explain someone? TGx
