The marriage cert i have for 1912 only states the bride and grooms ages, not their actual date of birth, it do's state address at time of marriage, occupation, fathers names and occupation and in this case, former (she was a widow) and maiden name of bride.... |

you find on a marriage cert the date they got married, their names, if they were a bacholar or spinster, the address they lived at, their occupation, their age at time of mariage, their fathers name and occupation and the church or place they were married at. birth cert states date of birth, place of birth parents name, mothers maiden name if they were married fathers occupation, address of the informant and name ( usually mother or father) and the date the birth was registered, hope this helps |

In a word, no! A marriage cert will give the couples ages and their residence at the time of the marriage. The ages could be wrong if they were underage and lied. Addresses of the bridegroom are often an address of convenience, in order for Banns to be called. Only father's names are given on marriage certs and these arent always accurate either - if someone was illegitimate then they usually made up the name of a father. Birth certs do not give dates of birth of parents. I am assuming you are talking about English/Welsh certs? Scottish ones have far more detail on them OC |

If it's England/Wales you are thinking of, best to look at this site: http://www.dixons(.)clara(.)co.uk/Certificates/indexbd.htm (remove brackets) as it will save my two typing fingers! Merry |
