Hello again, I have trawled through the bmd pages on Ancestry. I started in 1930 through to 1973 when Albert died for a marriage between Albert Hone and a Watson. No sign. I then tried for a birth with Watson as the maiden name of mother, nothing. No blood relation of a Marian or Almina in the family and I have gone back a long way. Not been able to get to Startford library to find out about newspaper article. Mum said he left home in July 1931. She was a year and her younger sister unborn. He was sighted a few years later when he returned home, wearing a brown coat and hat and carrying a case, my nan's mother would not let him in!!!!! I have tried the Prison Service and they wrote me a long letter saying they have no records but the records were destroyed after 30 years so that is probably why. Would really like to find out what happened but don't think I am going to be able to. Have put many threads searching the family on here and had some wonderful help from everyone. Now in touch with someone in NZ| who has photos of family. Amazing. But still would like to find out about my grandfather, my mum is 76 and my aunt 80 in August. They would love to know what happened. Thanks again for all help. Pam. (Bitten to pieces and itching now!!!) |

Well, presumably family members would know if there was a divorce? Which might have led to a remarriage? Almira is quite an unusual name I would think and wouldnt be THAT difficult to trawl through marriages? She might have been the wife of someone else, of course! Can you track down the newspaper article that tells about him running away? What could have happened to the money? Did he leave a Will? Did she? OC |

Pam You should be able to find the marriage, as you have the forename of Mr Hone from the death cert.............that would rule her in - or out, as the case may be. Reg |

reggie, thanks, someone came up with this before for me and I was astounded. Must be the same person. I have searched for the family but as no census after the 1901 and lots of Watsons no luck in that department. Thank you anyway. Pam. |

Thanks Old Crone. I have been trying to find out about Albert Edward Hone, grandfather. I phoned Kingston Registry office about 2 years ago and was told that he was buried in a council grave with no headstone and no family. Thought how very sad as he had left his own family in 1931 (nan with 5 children), never to be seen again. Many months later and lots of searching I found a relative living quite near me. Telephoned and went to visit. She told me that my grandfather had run away with the family fortune and it was posted all over the news boards outside Stratford Station. Caused absolute devastation within the family as you would imagine. When his mother was told she collapsed, had a stroke and was in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Decided to go back to Surrey History and emailed them about electrol rolls. They came back and said that Albert was living with Almina Marian Hone in 1972 and also 5 years before they were both living at same address. He died, supposedly no headstone. She then moved to another address in Elmbridge where she died 4 years later. Am waiting to hear if she had a headstone. Find it all so very strange. Perhaps I am just being too suspicious. I have hit a brick wall that I don't think I will be able to knock down. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you, Pam. |

A wild old guess here - but it rather sounds as if she died alone and was registered by a stranger/official? If so, there may be an inquest report in the local paper. OC |

OK then. Something to do....... I have now received death certificate for Almina Marian Hone. No specific date of birth, only about 1903. No name of who she married only Widow of ------Hone. No maiden surname of woman who has married. Informant : Causing the body to be buried. She died of what looks like Mitral Incompetence? Any suggestions where I go from here to find out the relationship between my grandfather and Almina. No sign of a marriage, no sign of children. He died in 1973 and she died in 1977. Any advice greatly appreciated. Still driving me nuts. Thank you. Pam. |

I was just sitting here and thinking what a damp squib Broadband has turned out to be. Because its 100 times faster than my old, infected computer, I read the Boards in a matter of minutes, rather than hours, and spend most of the time hanging around waiting for something new to happen! Never satisfied, that's me. OC |
