Hi i have a Robert Whitehead born 1939 in Hull he married an Eliza born 1942. How do i go about finding her maiden name or could someone look it up for me please. Many thanks Jennie

hiya, you can search ancestry's BMD index for FREE it covers 1837-2002,, all you need to do is register, and you can search year by year, (in quarters) use the uk site though, www*ancestry*co*uk replace * with dots julie

Any idea of the year otherwise it meand a HUGE search?

Do you know anything about any children they had? If you are able to look up any children's births that will give you Eliza's maiden surname, which should help you to find the correct marriage. Hi i know that there children are:- Harry 1867, George 1868, Annie 1872, Selina 1874, Armstrong 1876, Arthur 1878, Robert 1886. I have been searching but all i can find it a marriage in 1912 to a longhorn by a Robert Whitehead. It matches Sculcoates is where all of the Whiteheads get married but i think this must of been his son as when i do a search for Eliza Longhorn but there is nobody in the same sort of year. I have looked through 8 pages but don't seem to be able to find that they got married even though i know they did. Any more ideas or suggestions welcome. Many thanks Jennie

Um, you mean Robert was born 1839? Oh, Roger's there. Well done! I was going to say you could find Robert & wife on the census and then look for people with her first name, born same year and birthplace in pre-marriage census. nell

hiya ann, i'm assuming they deleted it was because of dates on original post above, dates are 1900 something, it confused the heck out of me, until i saw later posting about children, i would think the marr you have found, is the correct one, as it fits with dates of birth, confused?? you will be, i'm just going on 1800 dates Julie
