Hi a Hot match I contacted gave me access to view their tree. I was delighted to find names of my great-grandfather’s brother; sister; father and Christian name of mother. I have been trying to find his family for ages. I asked how he had managed to find them and did he have any reference sources for them. He has replied and given me this source:- 1871census RG10/2350 folio38 page26 My question is I have tried entering this into the search on Ancestry and it comes back search not found. How can I search for this without entering name? It should be in the somerset area I think Thanks in advance Yvonne

If you try it without the page number, it works and lists all the people with that folio number, there are only four pages so you should find who you are looking for. Sam x

Folio 38 on that piece number relates to pages 49 and 50! What's the name of the family? Merry

Piece 2350 is part of Somerset, as you say. Merry

It did work Sam but no Cross Family that I can see. At least I know how to do it now. Yes Merry that one was Somerset but I can't see the family

Can you give any more details? Names and ages? Merry

Maybe he could give you the numbers again, because those don't exist!! (I mean 2350 doesn't combine with that folio and page number) I have tried reversing some of the figures (piece 2530 etc) but no one called Cross appears! Merry

The only information I have is as follows:- My g-grandfather Thomas Cross married 1895 marriage cert says he was age 24 and his father is down as Thomas deceased occ (I think it says) Lime Burrpw or Burner? On every census it says born Wiviliscombe Somerset 1871. The Hot Match says his brother is James born 1855 wiviliscombe sister Mary 1868 born wiviliscombe father Thomas 1812 born wiviliscombe mother Jane 1846 born somerton and of coursse my g-grandfather Thomas born 1871 born wiveliscombe Hope that helps

Brilliant Merry but do they look as though they were mistransrcribed in your opinion? BTW sorry to have taken so long to reply, son doing GCSE's and needed some help on revision, be glad to see next week over & end of exams.

Oooh, rather you than me! Yes - it's Cross on the image. Written with an ''fs'' as was common for double S then. The transcriber has just read the ''fs'' as a ''p'' Merry
