Merry, Just found fanny price in 1861 she is the daughter of samuel and margaret price, and sister of sarah im so chuffed, now im going to follow the census with fanny to see if it leads me anywhere

Yes Alfreds father was matthew meredith, alfreds mother was anne jenkins, have yet to send off for their marriage cert to find out who matthews father was.

The birth cert should have given all her names, but you never know when the registrar didn't ask the right questions! Do you know Alfred Meredith's father's name? If you do, maybe you could order the Alfred M marriage cert with father's name as a checking point? Merry

Hi Merry, I wasnt sure if it would of stated any previous names way back then, ive just looked at my sons birth cert and it gives my maiden name and my married name from my 1st marriage, not sure what to do now lol. i could send for sarahs marriage to archer exton now i know her maiden name to find out if samuel was her father was hoping i`d find a connection with ada head i had filled the form in for her birth cert but not sent it off in case i was on the wrong track

Hi Merry, thank you for those, ive tried finding a death for william the only one i found was born in 1850 and died in kiddy in 1867 he was 17 which i think is the wrong one for the 1862 marriage, im still going with the theory that fany price was her sister, as in 1901 there is a fanny llewellyn visiting sarah who is now an exton with my hubbys grandad donald archer evans

I can't see a marriage for those names! (update - just read your post) On the 1861 census there are two Sarah Price's from the smae place: 1861 Sarah Price abt 1848 Castle Frome, Herefordshire, England Servant Bishops Frome Herefordshire Sarah Price abt 1845 Castle Froome, Herefordshire, England Servant Little Marcle Herefordshire The second one is better for date..... but back in 1851 there is only one (which I would imagine is the wrong one!!) 1851: Sarah Price abt 1848 Castle Froome, Herefordshire, England Daughter Castle Frome Herefordshire Parents Petre and Mary. Unless, of course, the Sarahs in 1861 relate to the same person who was just changing from one job to another and ended up getting listed in two households! Merry

i found a marriage for a sarah price and a william head jan - mar qrtr in ledbury 6a 613. i still havent found a marriage for price and meredith so im guessing she married william first, he possibly died i have a marriage record for a sarah head marrying alfred meredith in 1868 in hereford.

Just had a birth cert for sarah and alfreds daughter may, sarahs maiden name was price, not head or griffiths, back to the drawing board now to see if i can find a sarah price marryhing alfred meredith before 1869 in hereford as that was when their eldest daughter ellen was born. Will try and find the connection with ada head as well, fany price appears on the 1871 census with them so im guessing she is the sister of sarah. going to have a look now
