Assuming that the person died in Scotland, then those BMD's on ancestry will not be any use to you. Civil registration in Scotland only started in 1855, so there would not be a death registration as such for 1852, unfortunately. There are burial records for some parishes, but most are not yet available online, so you might have to go to the record office for the area where the death took place and look at the burial registers. From what I have read about this before, not all parishes even had a burial register, though. Or if you are lucky somebody may have transcribed the headstones in the graveyard where the person was buried - you could try googling for it. Oh, and I almost forgot! Look in the 'wills' section on Scotland's People! Kate. |
