Is Nancy a pet name for Ann? I ask as my 3x great grandmother gives her name as Ann on the censuses. I've had a look on the Hugh Wallis site and can only see a Nancy with the correct year of birth. There are several children with the correct surname, all with a father called Robert, but some with a mother called Nancy and some with a mother called Ann. Jeanette x |

Hi Janette One of my 4 x g grandmothers alternates between Agnes, Ann and Nancy between each birth and each census - luckily for me it was a small village so it was easy enough to see what she was up to. Snowdrops |

Thanks Snowdrops! This is in a reasonably sized place, but they do seem to be the only family with that surname......just changing first name! One of the children is called Mark though which runs through the family for generations. |
