Thanks Merry, sorry I'm late to the boards tonight. The house was a multi-occupancy one like many in those days. It would appear that it is just the Owen household which has gone missing. They had been at that address in 1861 and 1871, and as I said Edward died there (have the certificate) at the end of April 1881. Edward Owen died 172 Upper Frederick Street, Liverpool end of April 1881. Death informant was Son, William Owen resident at same address. James Dickenson Owen should also be at the same address. However no entry for this household in the 1881 Census. Is there an electoral roll available anywhere for this period. Keith
