I have two queries... One of my ancestors was born in Tuscany around 1832, but had moved to UK by the 1851 census and was living in Newcastle. Are there records available of immigrants at this time, and also how do I go about tracing his ancestors? Secondly, I have another ancestor who was transported to the US for sheep stealing in 1732. How do I go about tracing what happened to him? any help very gratefully received!! Paul |

National Archives website : ' Immigration from the Americas, West Indies, Australia, Africa, India (and perhaps the Mediterranean): What records are available? Ships' passenger lists exist only for the period 1878 - 1960. There are no passenger lists for air travel. No passenger lists exist for those immigrating from Russia and Eastern Europe. However, if the subject of your search was Jewish, there are some alternative sources of information It is unlikely that you will find records covering those immigrating from the Mediterranean unless the ship called at a United Kingdom port en route from elsewhere in the world.'
