simone, i had a look for you and found this one which is nearer to the dates than Winefrid Norah. Elsie Florence Lennon oct/nov/dec 1906 Ormskirk Lancashire Ormskirk is merseyside between liverpool and southport, so maybe she was born up there and registered in liverpool? just a thought....moe |

Hi everyone- Thanks for replies- the name is Elizabeth Lennon b 26/11/1906- b Liverpool. There is no birth reg, many have looked for me on this site already!:( I asked the question because I found a Winifred Norah Lennon reg Mar q 1907 I thought might be it, but now I see that there is a death for her in 1998, and her birth is listed as 20/1/1907 on Ancestry, so it doesn't look like she is my Elizabeth. I am hoping to find the baptism if I can hit on the right church. Maybe it will have something written in margin. Thanks Simone |

I would consider it a possibility, Simone, especially if the registered name wasn't that of a saint. Priests could get a bit sniffy if they didn't consider the name acceptable (not sure what happens now though). When my twin cousins were baptised about 40 years ago (groan) the priest insisted on adding Martha to one name and Mary to the other because he thought that the chosen names were unsuitable (Susan Angela and Diana Irene). I have several baptised and registered under the surname of TINNIS yet when they married or died, they used the name TENNUCI/TINNUCHE or variations. Confusing or what? |

Well, it could be, and then again it might not be! The only way to tell is to get a copy of the Birth cert. You may waste £7 if its the wrong one, but if you can put in checking points, such as the names of either/both parents, then you only lose £3. Olde Crone |

Hi Sorry, don't know much about this. If someone is baptized a particular name and is known by that name all of their life, but their is no sign of birth reg in indexes where it should be, (even after a number of kind people on this site trying to find it), could it be then that the only one listed in the correct q for the correct year although a differnt christian name could possibly be the correct one. Hope that makes sense! Thanks Simone |
