Hi to all, Can anyone help me with information about finding if any records exist, or what form of travel documents would have been needed, if any? Kind regards, Elaine. |

Hi Elaine I'm not sure if people had to have passports to travel abroad, but my ggrandfather had a 'paper' in 1862 when he travelled back from Paris to London, saying he should be allowed to pass 'without let or hinderence'. www.1837online*com have an index of early passport applications my g grandfather isn't on it, but it might be worth a look. Look under 'new records'. Heather |
