It does not always follow that the 'base name' is the tree owner. It is whoever the tree owner has built the tree from - in my case my husband, not myself. Liz

You are correct your name should be the base/first name; If it is your tree? I take it that you imported your tree onto Gr from another source, I think that the import/export on GR is at fault, their was a member on here the other day that exported from GR and put the gedcom onto his web page and when it loaded to the web page he had the same problem so I think it is down to GR. From what I can gather, when you open your tree, the 'base' name should be the Tree Owner? If this is correct, then how come my tree has a different person (one who died a couple hundred years ago) but with a similar name? Can I change this name to the correct one (Me) as it is very confusing not only to me but to people who view my tree. How do you change the name or do I have to email GR support which, in light of their dismal performance over the import gedcom issue, could be like hoping to win the lottery next week. Cheers Dave
