Yes, I have got it through as an attachment, but now what? I've pressed download, thinking it will go to desktop or somewhere. My Ftm is all registered, but how do I get the attachment on there. (just went and did some ironing to get way from it) Maggie

Maggie if you have not done so go to the list at left of page the Import/Export Tree that will send your Tree to your email address as an attachment it might take sometime, as there have been problems on this site, when you have that come back and someone will talk you through it, I am a pensioner too and still learning, I managed to do mine okay so you will too Good luck Val

Hello, Heres another Do Do pensioner, Is it the same system when exporting the tree from GR to FTM 2006. haven't entered anything on the first fill in page, as I wasn't sure if to start manually and then transfer over. Any tips welcome. Thanks Maggie.

To save a gedcom from Legacy. Click on file, then Export to Gedcom. Tick what info boxes you want to have in the export. Click the Blue Text in the top right corner, Select File Name and Start Export. Enter the file name you want. Select Desktop in the Save in field. Click Save. Fill in the compiler info, job done. Double Click the gedcom file icon on your desktop and select to open with FTM, follow the instructions, easy peasy. Get stuck, give me a call and I'll talk you through it while your sitting at your PC. 01902 836284 Ron www.genealogyprinters*com

I am sure its not too difficult to export a gedcom file if you want to try it - depends how many names you have got on your family tree - if a lot it will be quicker to try a gedcom file. As Ron says it doesn´t matter who you start with on FTM - it will all link up in the end.

Not quite sure what you mean - are you entering the names and details manually. Do you have your tree on Legacy at the moment? If so you should be able to export a gedcom file from Legacy and import it into FTM.

It's no problem, it doesn't matter who you started with. Just enter your parents as children and so on. FTM always opens on the same page as it was on when you closed it down so it doesn't matter who you entered into the file first. Ron www.genealogyprinters*com

Have just bit the bullet & bought FTM 2006 cos legacy 5 doesnt bring out the reports i would like.BUT i,ve done a silly thing and started from my maternal grandparents and now realise i should have started with me then i would get both sides of the family on there. is there any way I can amend what I,ve done or do i have to start again. I,ve put a lot on there already so it will be a chore to redo what I,ve already done. Shirley
