I printed it off - very interesting, and thanks to your stuff I realised that I hadn't got the maiden name of Hannah (who married James) and then also the info about their two extra children. I have found the death reference for Emanuel but cannot find the birth reg (it should have been 1838) so I'm guessing that they just din;t register him. I have had a bit of a look through some of the census' for various different Colwood's and found one, George Colwood: Name: George Colwood Age: 45 Estimated birth year: abt 1836 Relation: Convict Household: View other family members Family and neighbors: View neighbors Gender: Male Where Born: Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England Civil parish: Rochester St Margaret County/Island: Kent Country: England Street address: 'H M Prison Borstal' Condition as to marriage: Married Education: Employment status: View image Occupation: Carter Source information: RG11/889 Registration district: Medway Sub registration district: Rochester ED, institution, or vessel: H M Prison Borstal Folio: 14 Page: 26 (click to see others on page) GSU Number: 1341211 I think that he must be one of the mystery ones 'cos he doesn't seem to fit in anywhere along the line. I intend to go down to Stafford in the summer and look at the old parish records and hopefully find John b c1750 in the baptisms. |

Just been to wakefield to get my g grandads death in 1940 aged 50 (acording to death cert) He died on the 25th September 1940, and his death was registered by his widow on the 26th September 1940. ******However, his gravestone says that he died on the 26th September and was 49!.... Also the amily have always said he died of emphysemia, but iunfact it was TB. Just goes to show - check things out - even if you are sure they are correct! |
