Hi Jim I have just this minute sent off for Joseph and Eliza's marriage certificate. So will keep the reference you have given. On Jane's birth cert. 1855 it says Joseph Dunn is a steam engine fitter and then on the 1851 census you found for me it says he is an engineer, so that's another bit of confirmation. Thanks a lot for your help Linda ps Also just looked on the 1841 you found and it says Eliza born out of county. So that would fit in with the Gloucestershire bit

when and where was Eliza born?

I have the birth certificate of Jane Mercy Dunn 1855 Shoreditch Middlesex.............It states father as Joseph Dunn and mother as Eliza Dunn (Briggs)................Found marriage of Joseph Dunn and Eliza Briggs Shoreditch 1846 Shoreditch, Middx. but can't find them on 1851 census.....on 1861 census it states that Eliza was a widow................. Can anyone help?...................... Thanks......................Linda
