Chris thank you for that, helpful as ever. Don't know why I didn't take my own advice and google! Yes, Mary Joyce was Katherine Isenschmid(t)s mother. Poor woman. Mad husband who was at one time a murder suspect, lots of children to raise, only son dies at age of 22.... Glad she's not a blood relative or I'd be feeling very upset. nell

Hello Nell, Eastwick and Gilston look to be between Sawbridgeworth Herts, High Easter very near, and Essex underneath! :)) Shalford a little way over near Braintree. Have a look on Google at Hertfordshire Genealogy, it says Gilston and Eastwick are adjacent, good site! :) Chris :)

Sue Thanks for those, I will have a look. I'm wondering if this is her in 1851 >>>Mary Joyce abt 1842 Shalford, Essex, Daughter scholar but I can't find Shalford near High Easter or any place resembling Gilston/Gelston!!!!! Knowledge of Essex very scanty. Don't even know why I am looking for Mary, she's the mother of the 2nd wife of my great-grandfather Charles and a) she's not a blood relative and b) allegedly she was nasty to my grandfather!!!! nell

There's a very isolated East Wick on the coast. I've found two possible registrations in Dunmow reg district for 1843 and 1844 and Dunmow includes Great and Little Easton as well as High Easter. Any ideas?
