what wars are on in 1881?

She was living with her parents, brothers, sisters and her own children, must have been a real squash in those tiny houses, but about 15 of them in 1 house lol. Her husband did come back, there is a 7 year gap between her children, so I assume that is the 7 years he was away. There are no clues as to where he was other than the soldiers wife thing unfortunately.

Was she living alone in census? She may have been close to her first confinement and therefore living near a relative whilst the husband was in barracks, or posted to Ireland. Jay

Her husband may not necessarily have been on any war - just stationed elsewhere.

I have a newly married woman with an occupation of soldierd wife in 1881, anyone know a good place where i can find out which war her husband may have been on?
