From previous census seems my Gt. Gran was born in Hampshire - have found a likely birth record which shows Droxford - anyone know where that is - or even better anywhere that we can check areas of Registration district??? thanks Gill |

You need to start at this webpage: http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/places/ If you want to see what is included in Droxford District, click Hampshire and then Droxford. It also has a list of place names (link on the same page) so you can search the other way round.....''Parish X is in which District???'' Merry |

Thanks to Merry and Sylvia - seems I've got the right one then as next census shows she was born in Hampshire (where her mother was) but they moved around a bit so wanted to make sure had right one - I think Droxford being in Hants means I do! thanks again Gill |

You can always google to find where somewhere is, or use www.streetmap*co.uk. Genuki's list is very useful and I have it stored in my favourites. nell |

Droxford as the crow flies is about 12 miles from Southampton, the district comes under volume 2c from 1852-1930. The full details are on the Genuki site, including towns, parishes, and info links to different sites. You can also find which local registry office can supply bmd certs for the area etc. Glen |
