Kate, you don't say what you are using but presumably something like Norton. Why not try AVG, Antivir or Avast. All can be downloaded for free and appear to do the job. |

Thank you all so much for your help... Yes i am with Nortons and have been from my very first PC,,,sorry i should have mentioned that in my first msg,,,Running System Works,, I was just toying with the fact of only renewing the virus defintions or upgrading the complete program from Version 2004.. to 2006 Symantec are offering a package at the moment of System Works and Firewall....wondered if this was the way to go? many thanks again for all your comments,, Kate |

Something to consider.....Norton and McAfee are excellent programs.....with AVG, although excellent for a free program, keep in mind, you get what you pay for.....I speak from experience with both using the product and repairing PC's. AVG does have a 'pay' version which is better than their free version, though. Judy |

You can get Norton Internet Security 2006 on ebay for about £15, this is a lot cheaper than renewing online with Norton direct. It also contains a firewall as well as all the anti virus. Ron www.genealogyprinters*com |

AVG is only anti virus - it doesn't include a firewall. Cheers, Horatia |
