I have the death certificate for my great great great grandmother. It says she died from `Phthisis 4 months certified`. She died at home so why certified? She was only 21 years old and died in 1850. Vanessa |

The 4 months refers to the known duratiion of the illness which caused the death. In this case she had suffered from TB for a while prior th her death, and it has been duly noted on the certificate. Glen |
