To correct the desktop icon size: 1. Click on START. 2. Click on CONTROL PANEL. 3. Click on DISPLAY from the list. 4. A screen with labeled tabs will appear. Click on the SETTINGS tab. 5. You'll notice a sliding scale labeled SCREEN RESOLUTION.....using your mouse slide the bar towards LESS and then click APPLY and OK. You may have to do this once or twice until you get the icons to the size you want them. For adjusting the header display try: Placing your mouse in a blank area at the top of screen (where your headings are) and RIGHT click. A drop down box should appear....see that STANDARD BUTTONS has a check next to it. You can add or delete a check mark by placing your over the wording and clicking once. Judy

Hi Judy Many thanks for your help I understood your instructions re changing the icon size, maybe its how i wrote things, but i cant seen to change the rest of it. The problem is stemming from computer games they are trying to play, half of what should be on the screen, isnt, its as if everything is too big = does that make sense, i know what i mean but dont know how to describe it. try this right clcik on desktop , select properties , then settings , then check the screen resolution . If it is set to 800 by 600 it is probably causing the icons to look to large etc. Set it to a higher setting and see if that helps

It could be that you don't have a graphics card or a graphic card capable of handling the particular game(s) you have installed. Another thing to try is visiting the Microsoft Update site. Click on the CUSTOM button....CUSTOM updates do not update automatically like the CRITICAL UPDATES that your PC gets from this site....You have to manually check for these. After you click on the CUSTOM link the site will scan your PC and in the results of what is available for your PC you may note that there are DRIVERS that are available, as well as updates......make sure you download all suggested drivers as these updates keep the components of your PC up to date with technology. You can also visit the manufacturer of the game's website...using their site search feature enter the name of the game and see if there are any game updates....download those. Most everything on your PC, on occasion, needs to be updated.....that would include camera's, scanners, CD writes, monitors, and programs, too....all can be had for free my visiting the manufacturer of each item and checking for updates and drivers. (Microsoft's site will often detect needed drivers and offer them on their site....but it doesn't pick up everything.) Judy
