Please can anyone decipher the occupations of both Ernest Hampson and his wife Agnes Anne Hampson on 1901 Census RG13/3680/134/24? I think Agnes might have something to do with corset making. Also, can anyone read the street name? This page really is a stinker!! Thanks, Jennie |

I can't get the page to come up with that reference. Can you give Ernest's year and place of birth please? |

Got the right page now. Agnes' occupation says 'making corsets to order' and someone else has written 'Stays' over it. This other hand is a person who obviously had to categorise the different jobs for statistical purposes. Evans (as it appears on the page) is really tricky. Something maker or monger? nell |

Nell Thanks, it was the word stays that gave me the clue to corsets. His name really was Ernest (have marriage reg) and I read the page as that. Jennie |

Ozibird Thanks for that - you are right. At least now I know what type of industry he worked in. Jennie |
