Please can anyone decipher the occupations of both Ernest Hampson and his wife Agnes Anne Hampson on 1901 Census RG13/3680/134/24? I think Agnes might have something to do with corset making. Also, can anyone read the street name? This page really is a stinker!! Thanks, Jennie

I can't get the page to come up with that reference. Can you give Ernest's year and place of birth please?

Helen This is about the worst I've ever come across but I hoped someone on here would come up with the answer as they usually do!!!!! Jennie

Got the right page now. Agnes' occupation says 'making corsets to order' and someone else has written 'Stays' over it. This other hand is a person who obviously had to categorise the different jobs for statistical purposes. Evans (as it appears on the page) is really tricky. Something maker or monger? nell

Nell Thanks, it was the word stays that gave me the clue to corsets. His name really was Ernest (have marriage reg) and I read the page as that. Jennie

Ozibird Thanks for that - you are right. At least now I know what type of industry he worked in. Jennie
