USA Death Certificate

Hi,Can someone help.I wanted to know if and how i can obtain a death certificate of a relative in Massachusetts,USA.I have the date and year and social security number.But not sure where you can order if at all.Many thanks.

Hi This is the link to take you to the New York site http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/consumer/vr.htm I know it's not New York but I gather it's the same sort of procedure - just do a search in google. I had someone email me telling me if it's quite recent then I would have to have a 'legal documented need' According to their definition though I wouldn't have one. For genealogy purposes so many years have to have passed unless you are a direct descendant - which I am not. And you have to have proof of the connection - which I don't due to my grandmother not having an adoption certificate to prove her change in name. A bit of nightmare for my personal circumstances I'm afraid!! Hope it helps you though!!

Just a note: When applying for a death certificate, some states have a short form and a long form.....make sure you ask for the long form as the short form does not supply parental information. Judy
